Another Long Week

Image
Friday, November 15, 2024 Yep, another long week. Still dealing with the aftermath of the election and STILL dealing with the effects of that damn time change. This morning was the first time in the last two weeks that I wasn't up before 5 am. I don't remember it ever taking this long to adjust.                         Left work to walk home at 3:30 and the sun was already quite low in the sky. Wanted to be home by 4:00 so I could light up and still have some daylight for a cigar. I took the above photo right at 4 pm and you can sense of how low the sun is.  Lit up a Camacho which is pretty much my favorite now.  Felt good to relax amidst the waning light.  Dale left for a bike ride shortly after I lit up.  I had forgotten to bring out the Bose speaker so I had him do that for me before he departed. Full moon today and the lead up to it at school has been very apparent based on the energy level there over the last few day. (Image from my iPhone weather app) Above photo taken a

Long Week

Friday, November 8, 2024 What a long fuckin' week: a time change to which I had a hard time adjusting, dealing with everyone else. having a difficult time adjusting to the time change, a day off from school on Tuesday which disregulated the kids on the front and back ends of it. Oh yeah, and then there was that election. A cigar was definitely in order. Not that it isn't at any other time but I'm just sayin' today it felt particularly deserved.  It was in the lower 50s but with relatively little wind.  Perfectly comfortable for sitting outside.  And, after such a turbulent week, enjoying the stillness and calm in my back yard.

Processing It All

Image
Wednesday, November 6, 2024 Dale and I went out to eat tonight to process what happened since yesterday. I had an Old Fashioned. When we got home I had a cigar.  It was actually very pleasant outside and the crescent moon was shining bright.

Three Favorites

Image
Sunday, October 27,  2024 Smoking cigars at a steady pace. The above average temperatures help. There are 3 that I've determined to be my particular favorites. Stopped by Stogies On Grand yesterday and picked up some more them. I'm enjoying Olivas.   They're smooth and mild. I'm really loving the Camachos I've been smoking.  They've got a nice girth and  a bold taste.   Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur #1s have long been one of my favorites. I'd use the following words to describe them: Bold, strong, slightly bitter, spicey, caramel, and slightly sweet. They all comes together great.

MEA Weekend - Sunday Cigar

Image
Sunday, October 20, 2024 What a fantastic 4-day weekend.  The weather's been great and especially so today, Got in a Romeo y Julieta after finishing up some more yard work.   So very pleasant out at 78 degrees.  Can't believe our good fortune with the weather these past 4 days. We were supposed to have gone to Phoenix but plans got cancelled at the last minute due to our host becoming quite ill (it turns out he'll be fine). The weather here turned out to be better than what we would've gotten there. Since this weekend began Wednesday afternoon I've gotten in 4 cigars. Not bad.

MEA Weekend - Saturday Cigar

Image
Saturday,  October19, 2024 Got some raking done today and filled up a few leaf bags. Felt proud of myself for doing so.                           Rewarded myself with a cigar.  Had a Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur #1 which is one of my favorites and has been for the last 30 years. I remember buying these back in the day at the old Golden Leaf which was then in Calhoun Square (it's now called Anthony's and is over on Lake Street between Bryant and Colfax). I was living in a garden level apartment in Uptown at the time. I didn't like to smoke inside so I'd usually light up in my Toyota Corolla and drive around. I loved how the car smelled the next day.

MEA Weekend - Thursday: Cigar

Image
Thursday, October 17, 2024 Cigar this afternoon while Dale went on a walk. Smoked a Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur #1. These have always been one of my favorites although I went for a long while without them and only recently picking them back up again. Did a little bit of reading as I sat in the sunlight. The most recent book I've been enjoying is A Year at Clove Brook Farm by Christopher Spitzmiller. He takes the reader on a month by month journey of all the goings-on at his estate in New York's Hudson River Valley. I remember visiting out that way when Sam at Becky lived near West Point. It's a beautiful area. The book is full of wonderful pictures.  Had an Old Fashioned to go along with the cigar. Dayum they go well together.   Dale sat with me for a bit.  We said hi to Marcia as Andrea was taking her out on a walk.
