Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur

Image
Tuesday, July 21, 2026 Smoked a Hoyo Excalibur today and it was particulary satisfying.  Smelled good. Tasted good.  Felt good.  Looked good.

Summer Cigars

Friday, July 17, 2026 s I love smoking cigars on warm summer days. This'll be the second summer where I don't have to go back to school in the fall.  The are Little Hoyos. I love 'em.

Summer Sunday Afternoon Cigar

Image
Sunday, June 28, 2026 Brunch at Northbound with Dale. I got an Old-Fashioned. Would've loved and Old-Fashioned for my cigar this afternoon... but I'm trying to cut back on drinking... and it helps to have NO alcohol in the house to keep from giving into temptation, especially when smoking a cigar. Dale was on a bike ride for most of the time it took to smoke my cigar.  This is supposed to be the last nice day before we're blasted with heat and humidity starting tomorrow and lasting for most of the rest of the week.

Cigars of Summer: Asylum 13

Image
Saturday, June 20, 2026 Asylum 13's are my current favorite cigar. Lit one up on this Saturday afternoon.  Smoked it in the yard.  These take a little more than 2 hours.  They're well worth the time commitment.  Listened to my most favorite Sarah Vaughan album while relaxing.

Cigar, Jazz, and a Little Rain

Image
Saturday, June 13, 2026 Lit up this afternoon. Big, fat Asylum 13. Which is one of my favorites.  Temperature was in the lower 70s. The humidity was low and it was comfortable enough when the sun was out but then the clouds moved in.  So I went back inside and grabbed my leather jacket. It started to rain so I moved into the garage.  This size Asylum takes about a couple hours to smoke.  Listened to Lush Life - The Music of Billy Strayhorn . By Joe Henderson.

Cooler Weather and More Summer Cigars

Image
Thursday, June 11, 2026 Been hot and humid the previous couple days.  Smoked a big, fat, long La Flor Dominicana. Today was bit cooler that it's been lately so it made for great leather jacket weather.  Put on my gloves too. Diggers take a long time to finish. That's part of the reason I like them. It's usually about 2 and a half hours smoke. I mostly sat out in the yard but then rain moved in and I headed for the garage.  And listened to Django Reinhardt.

Enjoying Fall

Friday, October 17, 2025 Amazing autumn day. Perfect to sit out back with a cigar.  I lit up a La Flor Dominicana, also known as The Digger.  Dale and I both commented how incredibly beautiful it was out.   It really was.
