Another Long Week

Image
Friday, November 15, 2024 Yep, another long week. Still dealing with the aftermath of the election and STILL dealing with the effects of that damn time change. This morning was the first time in the last two weeks that I wasn't up before 5 am. I don't remember it ever taking this long to adjust.                         Left work to walk home at 3:30 and the sun was already quite low in the sky. Wanted to be home by 4:00 so I could light up and still have some daylight for a cigar. I took the above photo right at 4 pm and you can sense of how low the sun is.  Lit up a Camacho which is pretty much my favorite now.  Felt good to relax amidst the waning light.  Dale left for a bike ride shortly after I lit up.  I had forgotten to bring out the Bose speaker so I had him do that for me before he departed. Full moon today and the lead up to it at school has been very apparent based on the energy level th...

MEA Weekend - Wednesday: Cigar

Image
Wednesday, October. 16,  2024 MEA Weekend is finally here! Conferences after school yesterday which made for a 13 hour day. Everything went well but it was exhausting.  More conferences today during the workday but no classes for kids.  Celebratory cigar after I got home Four day weekend lies ahead. Finished my cigar shortly after Dale returned home from work.  Headed to Lunds to pick up dinner. We're doing a soberish October to limit our alcohol intake but decided to reasonably indulge tonight. I had an Old Fashioned and Dale had wine. Tonight's cigar was a Romeo y Julieta. During dinner tonight we watched the film White Zombie starring Bela Lugosi on TCM. Bela's son, Bela Lugosi Jr., has said his father was an avid cigar smoker.

Rosh Hashanah

Image
Thursday, October 3, 2024 Had the day off for Rosh Hashanah. Coffee outside this morning with a Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur. I'm doing a sober-October and cigars with coffee work better for me in the morning. Afternoon cigars with coffee run me the risk of not being able to fall asleep at night.  Today's cigar was a Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur, on of my favorites.  Perfect leather jacket weather when I lit up shortly after 9 am.   Wore my Open Road leather biker jacket which is a bit less heavy than my Schott Perfecto. It worked well this morning as there was some humidity in the air.   Been a while since I've done a morning cigar. This was nice.

Relaxing After School with a Cigar

Image
Thursday, September 26,  2024 Like yesterday I fit in another cigar after work. The weather is just too beautiful to pass it up.                       I had Bing AI write a paragrapb about it. I've modified it slightly.                       "After a long day at work, Joe settles into a chair in the backyard, the warmth of the September aftenoon wrapping around him like a comforting blanket. He lights up a cigar, savoring the rich earthy aroma that fills the air. For Joe, smoking a cigar is more than just a habit; it's a ritual of relaxation and reflection. The slow, deliberate act of puffing on the cigar allows him to unwind, letting the stresses of the day melt away with each exhale. The taste, a blend of spicy and sweet notes, brings a sense of satisfaction and peace. It's a moment of solitude and indulgence, where he can simply be, enjoying the simple pleasure of a well...

Relaxing After School

Image
Wednesday, September 25, 2024 We're getting cooler mornings and evenings with nicely warm days and afternoons.                        Perfect for sitting in the backyard with a stogie.                           It was nice to sit back and unwind after school. The sun is, of course, setting later and later making the light particularly golden for late afternoon.
