The Cigar Life

 Sunday, September 28, 2025 Smoked a Hoyo Excalibur this afternoon. It lasted about 90 minutes.  Lovely afternoon. Listened to Chet Baker. 

  Friday, May 16, 2025 Had Mike & Charisse over for dinner tonight. Dale and I drove to Stogies On Grand yesterday afternoon to pick up a couple of Camachos and some cans of strawberry lemonade Smazey seltzer for me and Mikey. Started out this evening in the backyard. I had an Old Fashioned, Charisse drank some Modelo, Dale had white wine, and Mike drank one of the seltzers (I had one with dinner). I gave Mike the choice of a Hoyo or a Camacho to smoke. He mentioned that the last time he bought a cigar he almost went with a Camacho but decided to go with something else. Anyway he was still curious so he went with the Camacho. Mike had never had one before and he thought it was pretty awesome. I came to them more recently in my cigar history and they're now one of my favorotes. I like the taste but also the girth. It feels good in my mouth. I smoked my Camacho a bit faster than Mike so I lit up a little Romeo y Julieta (see above photo).

 Sunday, August 25, 2024 Another hot day.  Didn't keep me from lighting up a Hoyo de Monterey Excalibur.   And sitting in the back yard.  Came inside when I finished. and put on some music.                                   And had a drink with Dale for cocktail hour. 

  Friday, May 10, 2024 Long, tiring week but at least the weather's been nice and today is no different. Was excited and ready to light up after school.  Got set up outside in the backyard.  Quite windy so I lit up my little Macanudo in the garage.  Beautiful afternoon but when the sun went below our front yard tree... ... it was a bit cooler especially with the wind. This was the last of my Macanudos in the tin. All the rest were fine but this one was a little tough on the draw and a bit bitter.   So, I changed to jeans and threw on a jacket. Finished the last of my Macanudos. All the others in the tin were fine but this one was a little tough on the draw and a bit bitter.                          Listened to Bronco by Orville Peck. Dale arrived home and joined me in the yard.  I lit up another cigar. This one was from a new tin of little Romeo y Julietas and was more full bodied than the Mac...

Thursday, October 5, 2023 Holy shit. What a day. This calls for a cigar. Smoked a Romeo y Julieta. The kids were NUTS today at school but they survived me and I survived them. Finally feeling like fall. Lit up in the garage and sat out in the back yard. Rained about 1/10th of an inch. Felt good to relax.

Saturday, April 29, 2023 Smoking two cigars in a day is something I haven't done in a while and I believe it last occurred sometime this past fall. I lit it up a Macanudo in the garage at about 10:30 a.m. after Dale left for the gym.  Can't remember the last time I smoked a cigar before noon. Heated up some left-over coffee  from this morning  in the microwave. The complimentary flavors of these two agricultural products allow them to pair together nicely.   I lit up my second cigar, an Oliva, at about 4 p.m. This one was a tad bitter as it's been in my mini-humidor most of the winter and I think I may have gone too long at one point without changing the humidity gel pack. In other words it may have dried out at one point. Oh well. It was passable probably due to the orange seltzer I had with it. A bit chilly without the sun and a little raw on top of that but my Schott Perfecto kept me warm enough.

Wednesday, February 8, 2023 Another nice warm day - warm for February, that is. Smoked another Ashton. I like 'em. They have an a certain intensity I find appealing.
