The Cigar Life

Friday, October 21, 2022 Gorgeous day today. Couldn't pass up a cigar. Down to my last little stogie. I'll be picking some up tomorrow at Stogies on Grand.  So far the weather has been absolutely perfect this weekend. Drank some cold coffee. Coffee, like booze, goes well with cigars.

Thursday, October 20, 2022 MEA Weekend can often shape up to be a great cigar weekend. The weather can be pleasant and the leaves haven't all fallen yet.  Not too cool today and the sun is warm. Lit up in the garage. And hung out in there a bit. Perfect weather for leather and cigars.

Saturday, October 8, 2022 Mike and Charisse had us over to their place for dinner tonight. I brought over and Oliva cigar for Mike.  Mike and I knew each other back in Jr. High and High School but we became friends that actually hang out together about 12 years ago. Mike and I are Facebook friends and he saw a picture of Dale on my page. Mike introduced himself to Dale when he recognized him at a spin class the both took back in about 2010. When Dale told me about it I told him that Mike would actually be fun to have over for dinner. Dale worked it out and the rest is history. We've been cigar buddies ever since. Used the second of my 4 1-day drinking passes for semi-sober October. I had a couple of Beefeater gin martinis.  After a very nice cocktail hour we had burritos for dinner. They were delicious and I should have asked Charisse for the recipe. 

Friday, October 7, 2022 Weekend's here. It's about time.

I first became aware of Billy Eichner through Parks and Recreation . Later I discovered Billy On the Street. Found him recently on the cover of Variety and I think he looks great with a cigar.  Haven't seen Bros yet though...

Wednesday, October 5, 2022 Had the day off today (my workplace decided to observe Yom Kippur this year) and I needed the break. I've been doing lots of assessments at work so it's been a busy week. Great to be outside on a leather weather kind of day. For the semi-sober October I'm doing I gave myself four 1-day passes and I used one of them today. I know, it's still pretty early in the month so I'm gonna have to pace myself. 

Sunday, October 2, 2022 October is here and it's still warmish outside.  Smoking a brown label Romeo y Julieta and it's quite nice. I've been spending a bit more time with these lately as I'm taking a break from Asylums. 

September 30, 2022 Warmed up again.  It's nice to be outside with the sun.  And a cigar. And some vodka. Dale and I are planning on doing a semi-sober October. We'll see how it goes. I am great fan of cigars and spirits. 

September 26, 2022 Cooler today so I paired my Schott Perfecto with a flight jacket I think the look is badass. Although cool the sun was out so it was pleasant to be outside. 

Sunday, September 18, 2022 We're heading into that part of year that's perfect weather for leather.  I bought my Schott Perfecto black leather biker jacket for a milestone birthday a few years ago.  It was quite expensive but considering how much I wear it it's probably turned out to be cheaper per wear than many other articles of clothing I've bought.  The Schott Perfecto is iconic and it's a classic piece of Americana.  Years ago my friend Harold gave me the New York Times Sunday Magazine and it had an article about the 100 things every man should have. The list contained everything from a bud vase to a leather jacket, doesn't matter the style, just so it makes you feel so cool you can hardly stand it. Leather jackets do make me feel cool as fuck, particularly this one. 

September 7, 2022 I'm naming Orville Peck's Bronco as my album of the summer of 2022. He sounds like the love child of kd lang and Elvis. I listened to the album a ton and smoked a lot of cigars while doing so.
