Two Cigars in One Day

Image
Saturday, April 29, 2023 Smoking two cigars in a day is something I haven't done in a while and I believe it last occurred sometime this past fall. I lit it up a Macanudo in the garage at about 10:30 a.m. after Dale left for the gym.  Can't remember the last time I smoked a cigar before noon. Heated up some left-over coffee  from this morning  in the microwave. The complimentary flavors of these two agricultural products allow them to pair together nicely.   I lit up my second cigar, an Oliva, at about 4 p.m. This one was a tad bitter as it's been in my mini-humidor most of the winter and I think I may have gone too long at one point without changing the humidity gel pack. In other words it may have dried out at one point. Oh well. It was passable probably due to the orange seltzer I had with it. A bit chilly without the sun and a little raw on top of that but my Schott Perfecto kept me warm enough.

Cigars 30 Years Ago

Sunday, April 23, 2023 I remember going to get my hair cut at The Professionals barber shop on 54th and Nicollet back in 1983. As I sat in the waiting area I looked through a copy of GQ magazine and found an article about fine cigars. I remember the article said that for a good cigar you had to pay 2 or 3 dollars. Times have changed but like the Instagram post from Cigar Aficionado says, they're still a rather affordable luxury and thankfully so. Cigars with Friends

Saturday, April 8, 2023 Had Mike over this afternoon for cigars. I met Mike way back in junior high school. I think it was in Spanish class. We were friendly acquaintances but not chummy. We reconnected on Facebook back in the late aughts when people our age were getting on Facebook. I invited him and his wife over for dinner and we've been hanging out ever since.  I had an Oliva on hand. We lit up in the garage and them smoked the cigars in the yard.  We listened to Oscar Peterson.  It's good to be outside again. It was good to see Mike and I let him know it. It had been since New Year's Eve.  Dale ordered Chinese for us and we watched Johnny Guitar. It's a camp classic and I think Mike quite liked it.  And Mike brought over some seltzer.
