Memorial Day 2024

Image
Monday, May 27, 2024 Had my second Camacho today and it was even more awsome than the first one.   This one was more girthful and felt good in my mouth.  It was very smooth and mild and burned nicely despite my having lit it rather unevenly. Tasted rather chocolatey after the halfway point. The cigar brought out the bold taste of the tobacco leaf despite how mild the cigar was overall.                          Wonderful day off today. Dale and I got a lot done around the house and even did the shopping this morning. Lunch at Northbound. I had a couple Canadian Old Fashioneds with my burger and fries and Dale had a chef salad.

A Little Romeo y Julieta

Image
Sunday, May 26, 2024 Had a nasty stomach bug overnight Thursday into Friday but am now pretty much recovered. Little Romeo y Julieta this afternoon.                                       Dale pcied me up a pre-made Old Fashioned yesterday at Cork Dork and I'm still working on it.

Romeo y Julieta Brown Label

Image
Wednesday, May 22, 2024 Lit up a brown label Romeo y Julieta and was impressed with it's very gentle taste.   This was more girthful than the red label I had the other day.   The smoke was mild and a number of different flavors came through over the course of smoking the cigar. Sometimes it was bitter and earthy but still soft and smooth.                                    Bold chocolatey flavors came through at other points.   And sometimes it tasted a little minty. I let the ash go longer than I usually do. Just as I was thinking about ashing it it broke broke of on its own all over my jacket. All in all a very enjoyable cigar.

Romeo y Julieta Red Label

Sunday, May 19, 2024 Smoked a Romeo y Juliet (red label) which was smooth and mild. It had a nice even draw to it and the smoke sat well in my mouth. Drank and Old Fashioned to go with it.

My First Camacho

Image
Wednesday, May 15, 2024 Smoked my first Camacho today and it was a pleasurable experience.   After all these years of smoking cigars this one hasn't been on my radar. I only became aware of it recently.   This is a cigar with a bit more girth than what I've been used to lately. I liked how it felt in my mouth. And in my hand.  The burn was a little uneven for a minute but I torched it and it evened out.   It tasted good. Mild, soft, and even throughout. For a couple puffs I got the taste of lavendar. Never tasted that before in a cigar.

Long Week

Image
Friday, May 10, 2024 Long, tiring week but at least the weather's been nice and today is no different. Was excited and ready to light up after school.  Got set up outside in the backyard.  Quite windy so I lit up my little Macanudo in the garage.  Beautiful afternoon but when the sun went below our front yard tree... ... it was a bit cooler especially with the wind. This was the last of my Macanudos in the tin. All the rest were fine but this one was a little tough on the draw and a bit bitter.   So, I changed to jeans and threw on a jacket. Finished the last of my Macanudos. All the others in the tin were fine but this one was a little tough on the draw and a bit bitter.                          Listened to Bronco by Orville Peck. Dale arrived home and joined me in the yard.  I lit up another cigar. This one was from a new tin of little Romeo y Julietas and was more full bodied than the Mac...

Sunday Cigar

Image
Sunday, May 5, 2024 Absolutely gorgeous day. Seventy-one degrees. Lit up a Macanudo which was beautifully mild. My On the Rocks pre-made Old Fashioned was a perfect compliment.                         A Macanudo was the first premium cigar I ever bought.  I was 18 years old and I believe I made the purchase at a cigar store in Southdale.  Dale sat outside with me for a bit and we got a kick out of the neighbor kids playing on their jungle gym. Listened to Oscar Peterson.
