Christmas Day in Arizona

Image
Wednesday, December 25, 2024 Glorious and relaxed Christmas Day. Lit up an Arturo Fuente around 1:30 pm.  Didn't change out of my speedo all day.  Wasn't sure what to expect for a Christmas with no cold or snow. Would Christmas still feel the same? Turns out it didn't matter. I did just fine without it.

Christmas Eve in Arizona

Image
Tuesday, December 24, 2024 Dale and I are in Arizona for Christmas to help out with care of his parents.                        Poured some bourbon and lit up a cigar on Christmas Eve Day.  The weather was gorgeous.    And it was fun to hang out by the pool.

Quite Cold

Image
Saturday, December. 14, 2024 Wednesday,  December 11 We've had the coldest weather so far this season during the past week.  On Wednesday the wind chills were below zero. Lit up a small Romeo y Julieta and stuck close  to the house which helped shield me from much of the wind.  Once inside I warmed up with some vodka.  Thursday, December 12 Chilly the next day too.  Sunny and not as windy.  Smaller cigars are better when short on time and when it's cold. Daylight is so much shorter at this time of year and there isn't much of it left when I get home from work.  We went out for dinner at The Howe for build your own mac & cheese night. I had an Old Fashioned to start and Dale had some red wine.  No school for kids tomorrow as it's a PD day for teachers. Supposed to be a little warmer this weekend. Hopefully the humidity will be low so it won't feel raw. Would be nice to light up a big Camacho or a Hoyo.

Another Long Week

Image
Friday, November 15, 2024 Yep, another long week. Still dealing with the aftermath of the election and STILL dealing with the effects of that damn time change. This morning was the first time in the last two weeks that I wasn't up before 5 am. I don't remember it ever taking this long to adjust.                         Left work to walk home at 3:30 and the sun was already quite low in the sky. Wanted to be home by 4:00 so I could light up and still have some daylight for a cigar. I took the above photo right at 4 pm and you can sense of how low the sun is.  Lit up a Camacho which is pretty much my favorite now.  Felt good to relax amidst the waning light.  Dale left for a bike ride shortly after I lit up.  I had forgotten to bring out the Bose speaker so I had him do that for me before he departed. Full moon today and the lead up to it at school has been very apparent based on the energy level th...

Long Week

Image
Friday, November 8, 2024 What a long fuckin' week: a time change to which I had a hard time adjusting, dealing with everyone else. having a difficult time adjusting to the time change, a day off from school on Tuesday which disregulated the kids on the front and back ends of it. Oh yeah, and then there was that election. A cigar was definitely in order. Not that it isn't at any other time but I'm just sayin' today it felt particularly deserved.  It was in the lower 50s but with relatively little wind.  Perfectly comfortable for sitting outside.  And, after such a turbulent week, enjoying the stillness and calm in my back yard.

Processing It All

Image
Wednesday, November 6, 2024 Dale and I went out to eat tonight to process what happened since yesterday. I had an Old Fashioned. When we got home I had a cigar.  It was actually very pleasant outside and the crescent moon was shining bright.

Three Favorites

Image
Sunday, October 27,  2024 Smoking cigars at a steady pace. The above average temperatures help. There are 3 that I've determined to be my particular favorites. Stopped by Stogies On Grand yesterday and picked up some more them. I'm enjoying Olivas.   They're smooth and mild. I'm really loving the Camachos I've been smoking.  They've got a nice girth and  a bold taste.   Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur #1s have long been one of my favorites. I'd use the following words to describe them: Bold, strong, slightly bitter, spicey, caramel, and slightly sweet. They all comes together great.
